The Proposed Learning Resource Center for Windward Community College

Help the Kaneohe community expand its resources

Windward Community College Library is seeking your support for HB3190 for the design and construction of a new Library/Learning Resource Center. This new building will combine the Library, The Learning Center, Media Center, and Computing Services, which are presently housed in cramped quarters in three separate buildings originally built as hospital wards. The new building will expand the space needed to better serve our students, including a classroom, a separate room for the Hawaiian collection, and an Information Commons.

For more information go to: library.wcc.hawaii.edu/newbuilding

History of the Kaneohe Business Group
compliled by Janis Y. Chun, 1999

A must have for anyone interested in the history of the Kaneohe Business Group!

This book features 100 pages of facts & pictures of the past 30 years of the Kaneohe Business Group and includes history of the past century around Kaneohe town as well

What does "Kaneohe" mean? Know where the one & only grocery store in the early 1900s was located? (see page 7) Or the prominent crops grown in our town? (see page 5)

You'll find past presidents with highlights of their terms and candid pictures of our members.

Read the 1969 Sun Press newsclippings heralding our very own Evans Yim as Charter President, who later would be recognized as Kaneohe's Person of the Millennium. And, catch a glimps of the book's compiler, Janis Chun, caught in the news blaming her father for her decisiveness.

You can and see faithful director Jo Brooks as President twenty years ago. See Brenda & Chuck Eakes dance, and Herb Lee holding Nikki Sen. And don't miss Linda Butts and Joanne Arizumi in Jail with Joe Wuscher as Bailiff.

Cost: $10.00--To order:

Windward Community College selects
Kaneohe Business Group
for Partnership

--from Libby Young, Windward Community College's KBG representative

Windward Community College has selected the Kaneohe Business Group as its Community Partner of the Year for 2000-2001. The KBG is being honored for the scholarship support it has provided to WCC students for the past six years as well as volunteer support in its Friends of Windward Community College campaign.

KBG past president Herb Lee has served on WCC's advisory board and helped lead efforts to raise awareness of the college in the community.

"WCC is a vital community resource", said new president Eddy Kemp. "The Kaneohe Business Group is pleased to support the college any way it can."

The KBG is the primary community business organization for the Kaneohe area. It promotes civic responsibility and community involvement as well as provides information to local businesses.

WCC is looking forward to more shared projects with the Windward Oahu business community as the college grows and develops.
